Soooooooo Day 3 of my Reboot Juice Fast is OVA! Hallelujah! These past few days have been f-ing rough. Between peeing every 3 hours, smelling delicious foods, and having to make yummy dinners for my kids... I'm SO ready to get back to eating.
Quick confession: in a moment of utter despair yesterday I ate a handful of organic trailmix. I was feeling woozy and just needed something in my tummy besides JUICE!
The hubby and I also made one slight variation to our schedule yesterday. He had not quite planned how he was going to juice at work, so he wound up just drinking water and having a protein bar to hold him over. By the time dinner rolled around we agreed getting something solid in our stomachs was necessary.
We steamed 3 heads of broccoli, tossed it in some olive oil and garlic and had that for dinner. I can I tell you it was the best plate of broccoli I've EVER had! The texture, the crunch...ohhh it was so good. Even my husband, who up until a few months ago NEVER ate broccoli, loved every bite.
Through this process he also decided that 10 days of just juice was too much for him to handle right now, but I actully want to continue juicing. Our compromise was to juice 4 times a day and have one meal with our family each night containing nothing but fruits and veggies for the remaining 7 days. That way we won't feel so deprived but will still reap the benefits of juicing.
What's in the Juice?
We tweaked a few of the recipes that included items we knew we couldn't stand, but essentially everything else remained the same. As I said yesterday we also changed the meal order and just drank whatever we were in the mood for. Here are our favorite recipes from the Reboot schedule (serve them all over ice).

And now for the results:
Final 3 Day Fast Weigh-in
Me: 138.2 lbs, BMI 18 (Down 7.6 lbs)
Hubby: 230 lbs, BMI 18 (Down 8.4lbs)
Not too shabby considering we both ate those HUGE plates of broccoli. I think if we hadn't we could've lost another few pounds.
Anyway we are both really happy with the results. I feel lighter and clearer in my head. My hubby is now ready to continue on this path to good health (he might even you use that gym membership!)
Another unintended result has been the eczema, that my son had been afflicted with for MONTHS with little to no change, has cleared up almost completely. I'm not sure if it's because he's only been getting a plant based diet through my breast milk, but I'm glad it made a difference.
Now, I'm super pumped about adding in whole food back into my diet, but also looking forward to my Apple, Carrot, Beet Ginger juice this morning. Nolan sure loved it!
After seeing our results, would you try the Reboot Fast?

I'm not sure if I could do this. the idea of no food at all makes me feel stressed. But maybe I can start doing some juicing. I don't have a juicer yet thougth. What do you think about smoothies?
Smoothies are a good stepping stone to juicing. I got tired of the bits of kale in my teeth though, lol. I suggest trying to borrow a juicer or buying one off a friend or craigslist. That way if it doesn't work for you at least you haven't spent a fortune. I also find eatimg many meals all day keeps me full and less likely to overeat at dinner time. Let me know if you need any help picking a juicer or recipes :)
I would DEF juice and try the reboot fast. I do agree that only drinking juice for ten days is a little rough on the body (and mind) and incorporating veggies into it is not a bad idea.
