Being a part of a "crunchy" community of mom's has become one of the most fulfilling and awesome parts of my life. In the last year I have met dozens of women who have embraced and encouraged me. I've learned so much from all of them I'd be lost without them.
A little over a year ago I joined my local chapter of the Holistic Moms Network and started attending Le Leche League meetings. My world was suddenly filled with loving, knowledgeable, and most importantly--- non-judgemental ladies who where ready to share their wisdom and resources.
I used to be one of those people who scoffed at joining a "mommy group". I thought they were filled with bored housewives who needed a bitch-session. Let's face it, if you turn on the TV and see a group of women gathered there's always drama, shit talking, and a feeling that each lady thinks she is a better than the others.
That could not be farther from the truth of the group of women I have fallen in love with. It's amazing that we are all on various points on the spectrum of "holistic living" yet we are able to support each other in a way that doesn't make you feel any less because you don't cloth diaper or choose to vaccinate.
Aside from being a wealth of information these entrepreneurs, midwives, doctors, educators, work from home mamas, artists, and musicians are SUPER fun.
I had the pleasure of having dinner and drinks the other night for our Holistic Moms Night Outing. We laughed, we ate, we drank, and we got to partake in some kid-free mommy time! It was awesome!
I'm so grateful to have these women in my life. We are not just friends in a mommy group. We really have become a family.
Do you belong to a group of moms who support you? How important is that bond?
